Spotted Towhee

Pipilo maculatus

The spotted towhee is one of the most easily seen and heard birds on campus, once you get to know it.  Listen for their rapid trills (first audio clip), and rusty call (second audio clip).  See the Breeding Birds page for photos of a spotted towhee nest and nestlings (much more close-up than this distant adult on the pillar).
