Lesser Goldfinch
Spinus psaltria
These bright black and yellow birds are a common sight high in the trees across Westmont, usually in a small flock. Their constant, quiet “po-ta-to-chip” call, and high, sweet “kee-yeer” call are easily learned. Their song is more complex, and may contain imitated portions of various other local species.
