PAUL WILLIS
July Again
(Salvia spathacea)
Pitcher sage, you are once more
past your wisdom, leaves and petals
dried to a crust of former thought.
Yet you persist in offering
your one dusty aphorism, totally lost
on the hummingbirds who pass you by.
