House Finch

Haemorhous mexicanus

HsFnch_B15_3.16.19.jpg

The house finch is one of the most recognizable small birds on campus, with its bright red head (in males at least) and sweet warbling song.  Look for them in small, rapidly chirping flocks.  Their nests can also commonly be found on any little ledge on a building—at Reynolds (see picture on the Breeding Birds page), or the Music Building.
