American Crow

Corvus brachyrhynchos

AmrCrw_B3_11.28.19.jpg

This is a bird most people on campus can identify (though take care: there are occasionally ravens about), as it has proved quite successful in suburban enviroments.

Crows congregate in large numbers on the lawns and carry on loud conversations; they mob hawks and owls and have been known to take them down; they rifle through dumpsters and scatter the contents all about.  If you're looking for them on campus, just stop a moment to listen for their distinctive voices, and you'll be sure to find some.
